Upcoming Event – Managing Wealth in 2023: Plan Well to Live Well

We are delighted to announce the full details of this year’s Managing Wealth in 2023, our annual joint LIA, FPSB Ireland and Irish Tax Institute event. 

This essential update for financial advisers and planners is a highlight in our annual events calendar and takes place this year on Wednesday 31st May, 8.30am to 11.30am, in the Iveagh Garden Hotel, Harcourt Street, Dublin. It will also be live streamed for those who prefer to join online. 

This year’s theme is Plan Well to Live Well and we will be exploring how longevity, inflationary and succession risks impact long term planning, and how to mitigate these risks. 

We have an excellent line up of speakers this year, with Brian Grimes, Head of Actuarial Function at Intesa Sanpaolo Life, Finola O’Hanlon, Managing Director of O’Hanlon Tax, and Kevin McConnell, Chief Executive of Gem Strategic.

Brian Grimes – Pension Fund Challenges at Retirement

Brian will discuss the challenges faced by individuals in managing their pension funds in retirement, explore how people are coping with these challenges, and share advice on how our advice processes can better support individuals through this journey. 

Brian has worked in the industry for over 30 years. He is an actuary, and his roles have ranged from finance, to product development to distribution. He is currently Head of Finance, Actuarial and Investment at Intesa Sanpaolo Life. Brian created and delivers the Risk Management module of LIA’s Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning. 

 

Finola O’Hanlon – Key Tax Issues for Individuals Close to Retirement

Finola will discuss tax implications, in particular for entrepreneurial clients, in relation to pensions and preparing for the future, looking at funding, retirement and exiting from a business. She will also share current trends in retirement planning. 

Finola specialises in the area of wealth management and advises on all taxes associated with retaining and passing wealth. As a tax solicitor she also provides advice on tax issues arising for conveyancers, and provides a support service to accountants and lawyers. She is a FITI Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) and a Trust and Estate Practitioner (TEP). 

 

Kevin McConnell – The Current Economic Environment

Kevin, a regular speaker at this event, will provide an update on markets and the current economic environment, considering what financial advisers ought to be doing from both client engagement and portfolio management perspectives. 

Kevin is Chief Executive of Gem Strategic, a specialist consultancy to financial institutions. Over a career spanning 30 years in capital markets, Kevin has worked as a strategic adviser to a range of global international institutions in the investment and banking industry, advising on capital, risk and strategy. He is a Senior Associate of Faculty, Institute of Banking Executive Education, and a Teaching Fellow in Wealth Management on the Masters in Finance, Trinity College Dublin. 

 

Full attendance at this event will award 3 CPD hours in Pensions, Investments and CFP, and 2 hours in PTP.
