Event Types
LIA offers a wide range of educational and developmental events, many of which provide CPD credits
relevant to our members’ designations.
- Members can access ‘On-Demand CPD’ events, providing flexibility to stay updated at their convenience, if they are unable to attend our CPD events live.
- In addition to this, we also host ad hoc ‘Member Giveback’ events, focusing on soft skills such as networking, HR, and mindfulness, which may not always award CPD credits but are valuable for personal and professional growth.
Non-CPD events are typically soft-skill seminars, such as networking, HR, mindfulness, etc, which are
relevant to our members in their working lives but are not directly relevant to the designations they
hold with us. Thus, attending such events does not award CPD hours but is of developmental benefit
to our members in other ways.
Event Locations
Most of our CPD events are held online via Zoom, offering you the flexibility to attend from wherever
you are. Access details are emailed to attendees in advance or can be found in your Learning Centre
on LIA Elevate. For those who prefer face-to-face interaction, we also hold in-person events at venues
across LIA’s eight regions: Cork, Dublin, Limerick, Northeast, Northwest, Southeast, and West of
Ireland.
Additionally, we offer on-demand CPD options, so you can catch up on events at a time that suits you,
even after the live session has taken place.
Who Can Attend?
Our events are open to LIA members and students as well as visitors, unless stated otherwise.
CPD Events for my Designation(s)
Where an LIA event offers CPD, the categories / competencies it is relevant to will be listed on our
website and in the information section of the event on LIA Elevate. The categories are in line with the
Central Bank of Ireland’s Minimum Competency Code.
For example, if Joe holds an APA (Pensions), any event relevant to category 2 (Pensions) will award
him CPD. If he attends an event which is relevant to category 1 only (Life Assurance), Joe will not
receive CPD as it is not relevant to his APA (Pensions).
Please note that the onus is on you to ensure that an event is relevant to the designations you hold
before attending for CPD purposes.
However, we welcome your attendance for non-CPD purposes if
you feel that you would learn from the content being presented.
Yes. We apply to the Institute of Banking (IOB) for accreditation of LIA events in advance of our event
dates. Where IOB have accredited it, we can provide you with the IOB code should you need to log
your attendance with them. Please email events@lia.ie to request this code. Likewise, we can advise
if an LIA event has been accredited for CFP® professionals with FPSB Ireland.
While other bodies may accredit our events, we do not have access to their codes or accreditation
information so you will need to contact them directly to request this. If you are hoping to attend an LIA
event for CPD towards a designation held with another such body, we advise that you contact them in
advance to confirm whether our event will meet the requirements of their CPD scheme.

able to see the presentation slides but will hear the speaker(s). However, please note, we cannot award CPD hours to those who have joined by phone.

No, once you have registered to attend the event, we will know to expect you. Please check in at the registration desk by giving your name. If the event awards CPD hours, you may be asked to sign a sheet towards the end of the event to confirm your full attendance for CPD purposes.
After the event
Whether an online or physical event, we will log the LIA CPD for you in the following days, so no action is required from you. Should you need to log it with IOB, please email events@lia.ie for the code. For all other accrediting bodies, please contact them directly to seek accreditation. .
These will be emailed to you the day after the event. However, if you have not received them, please contact events@lia.ie
Where the speaker has given permission for us to record the presentation, the event will be available on-demand through LIA Elevate. This will be available within 7 working days post live event, and you will be able to find it in your Learning Centre.
If you registered for a live seminar but were unable to attend at the event time, if the presenter of the
