On Saturday 7th October we were thrilled to host a conferring ceremony in the RDS for the very first cohort of LIA’s Postgraduate Diploma in Business in Financial Planning graduates.

It was a very special event as everyone finally had the opportunity to come together and meet fellow students, lecturers and the LIA team after 18 months of hard work. We were truly honoured to be able to celebrate this achievement with students and their families.

We are so proud to have supported students thus far in their professional development. We look forward to continuing to support them as they embark on this exciting next chapter in their careers, and witnessing the hugely positive impact they will have on the wellbeing and lives of those who seek their guidance.

Congratulations to Kelly-Anne Quinn who was presented with the Daniel Grimes Gold Medal Award at the event. This special award is not just a recognition of academic excellence, but a testament to unwavering dedication, relentless pursuit of knowledge, and the embodiment of the highest standards of achievement.

The Gold Medal Award is in honour of Daniel Grimes RIP, an individual who embodied the spirit of excellence, adventure and dedication. Daniel’s father, Paul Grimes, is Chief Professionalism Officer for Financial Planning Standards Board Ltd. and a former lecturer on this programme. Paul has been an advocate for improving the standards of professionalism in financial planning and has been instrumental in shaping the course and the future of many professionals in the industry, so it is very fitting that this award bears Daniel’s name.

Huge thanks to our guest speaker, 6-time Paralympic champion Jason Smyth MBE. Jason spoke about competing as a 100m and 200m T13 runner and that intense moment when the race gets under way. Years of preparation have led to that moment, and for him the success really is in the journey up to this point. He shared advice for our graduates on the 3 things that help him to ‘achieve’ in those moments – clarity on what you want to achieve, creating the right environment to give yourself every opportunity to succeed, and focusing on controlling the controllables in challenging situations.

Thank you to everyone involved in making our first Postgraduate graduation a very special and memorable day!

Registrations for the next intake for the Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning are now open - you can find out all the details here. You can also listen to a webinar series here with our past students where they discuss their journey in detail.
