LIA is delighted to announce the appointment of Gerry Moran as LIA President 2022. Gerry was inaugurated in January, following Clodagh Sheehan’s two-year tenure. Managing Director of Wallstone Financial Planning in Limerick, Gerry joined Irish Progressive (now Irish Life) in Dublin in the Autumn of 1997 where he worked with New Business, dealing with Broker Consultants. He soon returned to Limerick and took up a position with a local accountancy firm in October 1998 to establish their financial services division. Gerry subsequently joined another large accountancy firm in the mid-west and purchased their financial services division in 2014 to form Wallstone Financial Planning.
Speaking of his inauguration, Gerry said: ‘To me, LIA embodies everything an educational and membership organisation should be in its support of individuals embarking on a career in finance. I can truly say that being part of the LIA community since 1998 has led to the forging of friendships in our business that otherwise may not have happened. In my sixth year on the Board of LIA, I can assure you that the CEO, senior leadership team and staff at LIA have nothing but their students’ and members’ best interests at heart. They work extremely hard at developing, implementing and promoting standards that every profession should align itself to and I am immensely proud to become President of such an organisation.’
Gerry first became involved with LIA when he began his studies for the QFA designation. He joined his local Regional Committee in Limerick and became chairperson of the committee in 2005. He was one of the first cohorts of students to undertake the course leading to the designation, Certified Financial Planner™, which he achieved in 2011. Gerry was appointed to LIA’s Board of Directors in 2017.
