New Shorter Route to CUA Designation

Following the introduction of the Central Bank’s new Minimum Competency Code, which announced new shorter routes to accreditation in a narrow product range, the route to the CUA designation has also been reduced and is now awarded (on application to LIA) following successful completion of two modules; Credit Union Practices and QFA Regulation.

This shorter route does not result in an educational award/qualification. However, on completion of the remaining two modules, QFA Investment and QFA Loans, the Professional Diploma in Credit Union Advice qualification will be awarded. Students who successfully complete all four modules are also eligible to apply for the APA (Loans) and APA (Savings and Investments) designations.

Note that it is the CUA and APA designations that are recognised by the Central Bank for Minimum Competency purposes, subject to meeting CPD requirements.
