Bachelor of Financial Services

Why the Bachelor of Financial Services?

The Bachelor of Financial Services (BFS) Degree addresses the educational needs of those who want to develop management and senior management careers in financial services. The BFS is offered by LIA’s academic education partner, the Institute of Banking which is a recognised college of UCD.

The BFS provides those who work in financial services or banking with an ideal opportunity to acquire a University degree at Level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications, which is recognised and supported by the financial services industry.

While providing a broad business foundation, this programme also examines contemporary issues of importance to the financial services industry. A key feature of this programme is that it merges academic knowledge with relevant professional skills and has been developed by both industry and academic subject leaders. Different modules involve various delivery approaches from a combination of eLearning and workshops to full days of lectures.

The BFS programme is designed with those working full-time in mind, and is flexible so that candidates can continue to pursue their career goals while studying. The programme is accessible irrespective of a candidate’s working location and candidates can study at a time and place which best suits them.

At Stage 1 all modules are provided as 5 ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System) credit modules. At stages 2 and 3 modules are provided as 10 ECTS credits each. 60 ECTS credits are required to complete each stage.
